Garth Brooks appeared on Jay Leno’s very last episode of ‘The Tonight Show’ Thursday night (Feb. 6th), performing some of his biggest classics to help mark the end of an era. Brooks and Leno are old friends, and the singer has appeared on the show many times over the course of Leno’s 22-year run. He paid tribute to the iconic TV host Thursday night, calling him “the dearest friend to entertainment.”
“If you were an entertainer and needed a friend and a way to the people, you were always it,” Brooks said. “I love you with all my heart.”
Brooks joined Billy Crystal as the billed guests for the final episode, which also featured appearances by a parade of celebrities including Oprah Winfrey and Sheryl Crow. He performed ‘The Dance’ at Leno’s request, and closed out the show with a raucous version of ‘Friends in Low Places’ that had Leno clapping along.
