Grand Jury indicts #MSD school shooter Nikolas Cruz on 34 counts

Prosecutors announced Wednesday afternoon Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooter Nikolas Cruz was indicted on 34 counts related to the mass shooting which took place Feb. 14.

The 19-year-old is charged with 17 counts of premeditated first-degree murder and 17 counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Prosecutors began presenting a grand jury with evidence against Cruz Tuesday.

The panel heard testimony from multiple witnesses before voting on the indictment.

Tuesday, jurors heard from more than half of 15 scheduled witnesses.

The first person to reportedly testify was the Uber driver who drove Cruz with a black duffel bag and backpack to the school campus that afternoon.

The lead detective and crime scene analysts also testified on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, on the second day, Medical Examiner Dr. Craig Mallack and James and Kimberly Snead, the family who took Cruz in after his mother died testified and were questioned.

The ongoing case will be prosecuted by State Attorney Michael J. Satz.

According to a probable cause affidavit, released shortly after his arrest, Cruz confessed to fatally shooting 17 victims and injuring 17 others at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland on Feb.14.

The defense has already offered a guilty plea if Prosecutors take the death penalty off the table.

There has been no word on whether Prosecutors will consider a plea deal for Cruz.

The State Attorney’s Office notified all 17 victim’s families when the indictment came down before it was publicly announced.
