From Star Trek to Country Star?: Shatner’s new tune…with a Surprise Country Icon

That familiar voice from TV’s past is coming soon to your speakers, and maybe your favorite country hangout…and he’s got a surprise up his sleeve.

William Shatner, of Star Trek and Rescue 911 fame, is set to release an album of country music later this year on the Heartland Records label. But wait! Hold on to your bootstraps, because that might not be the most exciting part!

The star teases in a YouTube clip that the new release includes a collaboration with a country music icon, but he’s not giving any names.

In recent interviews, Shatner has definitely showed his enthusiasm for all things Country. “I love it!,” he says. “I’ve got friends in the country music industry. I want to do country music and I’m going to do country music with an icon,” according to the website “A Taste of Country.”

Shatner added that he’s a diehard fan of the energy and vibe that he feels around Nashville songwriters and performers. He’s certainly not new to the scene, either. After all, he’s buddies with none other than Brad Paisley, appearing with him on the CMA Awards and making an appearance in the videos for Paisleys songs, “Online” and “Celebrity.”

Could he have just spilled the beans? Do you really think? Hmmm…we’ll see!
