VIDEO: Five Dead in New York East River Chopper Crash

An NTSB team is investigating last night’s deadly helicopter crash on the East River in New York.

Five people were killed when a Liberty Helicopter Tours chopper that took off from Kearny, New Jersey went down eleven minutes after takeoff, flipping upside down after landing in the water.

The pilot was able to free himself but his passengers, who were on the flight for a photo shoot, were trapped by their safety harnesses.

The pilot’s “mayday” call mentioned engine failure and the NTSB will also look into whether the chopper’s weight and load capacity was exceeded.
